...says ex supermodel Nina Manuel who is now busy hosting a show for an ongoing fashion week.
Nina Manuel been shuffling between New York and Mumbai for some time now and she is back in Mumbai doing what she does best, hosting a show. She has been busy with a lot of assignments including working on an architectural design firm and her website. Talking about the Indian fashion industry, Nina says, "Indian fashion industry has got its own standing and people here are definitely getting more professional and the industry is evolving."
Nina thinks that fashion weeks are a good idea since they create a lot of work opportunities for the models, make-up artists and technicians alike. "The focus and concentration should be on quality work though," says Nina who was one of the last few supermodels in the Indian fashion scene though she begs to disagree. "The era of the supermodels is not over, there are a few girls who have the potential. I really like Kanishtha Dhankhar, she displays a great attitude on the ramp," adds Nina.
Though she has a piece of advice for aspiring models, she says, "Modeling is not something that you get into without your parent's knowledge and make sure to do quality work. Get a good portfolio done and represent good brands and designers. One should be smart about presenting themselves."
Nina also feels that Indian talent is getting recognized and appreciated abroad right now, "Its not only modeling but in other areas as well Indians are being appreciated."
